Welcome to Wild Orchid. This spectacular four-bedroom estate was just completed in 2018. It is located on the Banks Road of Governor's Harbour, the premier Eleuthera location, where it is situated directly on a mile-long pristine, beach that is usually deserted. Wild Orchid features a stunning private beachfront infinity edge pool overlooking the turquoise waters and pink sands of Poponi Beach.
Wild Orchid has a new whole-house generator. There is a backup water system being added & should be complete by January 2023. And a new pool heater. There is a pool heat fee of $400 per week if you choose to heat the pool.
Wild Orchid is located on the 70-acre grounds of the boutique beachfront resort, La Bougainvillea. It comes with full access to the resort’s excellent restaurant and bar. Room service is available.
Wild Orchid consists of a 3-bedroom main house with a detached 1-bedroom guest cottage. The kitchen, dining room, living room and three of the four bedrooms all feature ocean views. All bedrooms have luxury en-suite baths finished in coral stone. The main house has a king bed master suite and two queen bed guest suites. The guest cottage has a king bed master suite and a sleeper sofa. All bedrooms and the living room have smart TVs with cable. We also have 2 full size air mattresses.
The luxury kitchen features stainless steel appliances and is fully equipped with blender, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig (bring KCups from home) cookware, new silverware, new plates and glasses.
Luxury finishes at Wild Orchid include coral stone floors, 18’ high ceilings, local carpentry, and tongue and groove cypress throughout.
Wild orchid’s ocean-view great room opens onto a stunning ipe wood deck, shaded by a pergola and overlooking the pool and beach. The deck features an outdoor dining table for 8, chaise lounges, and a round day bed for two. We just added front columns, fencing & trees all around for more privacy.
Amenities include AC throughout, WIFI, washer/dryer, and smart TV with cable in every room, new bedding & towels. There's a gas grill & smaller charcoal grill for outdoor cooking, back-up generator and a water purification system. Outdoor ceiling fans, outdoor shower, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and Sonos Sound System.
The town of Governors Harbour, the main town on the island, is a 6- or 7-minute drive from the property. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won’t want to miss it.
Upscale restaurants in the area include La Bougainvillea (international cuisine), Tippy’s (international and fusion), The Buccaneer (Bahamian cuisine with Caribbean-Chinese fusion), 1648 Restaurant (Bahamian cuisine inspired by European influences), Bacchus Fine Foods (gourmet restaurant and food store), Pascal’s at Sky Beach Club (International cuisine with Bahamian influences), and The Rainbow Inn (famous for its steaks and seafood). The above all have live music one or more nights a week, so there is live entertainment somewhere nearby almost every night. The Governors Harbour area also has numerous little takeout and restaurants offering local cuisine, including Da Perk (coffee shop and sandwiches), Mate and Jenny’s (pizza and Bahamian), the Sunset Inn (local cuisine), and LeoRose Sunset Beach Bar and Grill (local cuisine, drinks, live music).

Layout and amenities listed were all accurate. If you want privacy this is a great house. The resort next door was great to walk over and get drinks or use the kayaks. Our adult children loved the dj that played on several afternoons and it was a fun lively group even though it's a small resort. The tourism office in Governor's Harbor has a really nice map and I would recommend getting one right away as most streets are not listed. Drive time from ELH airport was about 75 minutes. It was very easy as there is only one main road running throughout the island. Ziggy and Tenille (sp) made the trip. They go out of their way to make sure you are treated well and did everything we asked! The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean! They have dishsoap, dishwasher soap, plenty of towels as well. You will need to bring your own spices though as they just had salt and pepper. The pool is not heated and we didn't really swim at all as it doesn't get the afternoon sun. I'm sure in the warmer months though it's very refreshing. There are about 20 stairs down to the beach which was not an issue for us but could be for impaired individuals. We drove up to Spanish Wells and jumped in the Sapphire Blue Hole and then went in a shark cage with Face2FaceAdventures. Both are highly recommended. We also hired Tom from Bahama Adventures for lessons at Surfer's Beach. Again - recommended but it's a 15 minute walk if you don't have 4 wheel drive from the parking to the beach just so you know ahead of time. We had terrible food/service at Tippy's and would not recommend. La Bougainvillea next door had good food but pricey. Our favorite food/service was at Buccaneer's in Governor's Harbor and we ended up going twice. We had several times where their credit card machines are down so make sure to bring plenty of cash. COVID testing at the clinic in town - $25 cash and easy.

This house exceeded our expectations based upon the pictures. The house is extremely spacious and comfortable. The showers are amazing and the A/C works great. The pool and beach chairs are great and it is on a pink sand beach where you can take a long walk either direction. We would definitely stay here again. The house is close to good restaurants, grocery stores and other beaches.

La Bougainvillea is a magical place. The staff are very attentive and accommodating. Shout outs to Karell, Katherine and J. This trip was a family of 8 celebration/ vacation. Wild Orchid's set up is perfect w/3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. We also rented the cottage behind the house. The beach is indeed pink and desolate. Rarely saw anyone else on the beach. Breath taking sunrise and sunsets. Minutes away from Governors Harbor, restaurants, convenient to anywhere you want to go. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely in spite of issues we encountered. Wifi is spotty, Water pressure and water temperature are a problem. our expectations for a luxury rental may be high, but sometimes no water comes out of faucets/showers, sometimes scalding hot, or freezing. Not sure if its just wild orchid, or if this is a resort wide issue. Upon our arrival there were some broken cabinet doors, a fan that didn't work over the kitchen island, one bedroom had no TV as advertised, one tv didn't work. Eventually things were resolved. Even with inconveniences, this is a desirable rental house! Highly recommend Eleuthera Outdoor Center for snorkeling excursions.
We would all visit La Bougainvillea again!

Wild Orchid is a very new, clean, well-designed home for a family vacation. It is situated on one of the most beautiful pink sand beaches in the world. The house is located next to La Bouganvilla boutique hotel and they share the same staff, who are great to take care of your needs while you are visiting.
So if you have read this far, you are probably thinking thast the title is be a bit confusing. If you haven't visited the island of Eleuthera, you may be surprised to find that is very undeveloped. If you are ok with that part then this may be the most beautiful place on the face of the earth.
We brought enough meat (in coolers) for three dinners and the grill at the house was great for preparation. I highly recommend bringing anything that you want, because the grocery options are limited and expensive.
There are a few great restaurants and bars around, including the restaurant at La Bouganviella.

The island has a true supermarket which has a much better selection than the local grocery stores, and somewhat better prices, and they will deliver and pre-stock the house for you. The even have online ordering! It is called The Market and the website is .

The villa was even better than we expected! It's situation is stunning, right on the most beautiful beach. We didn't think we would use the hotel next door for much, but we ended up there everyday for one or two meals since Eleuthera was still pretty closed. The hotel staff are lovely and fun. Each bedroom and bathroom was very large and spotless. The living space is bigger than the photos show. We were VERY happy with everything at Wild Orchid and would stay again, but probably at a time when Eleuthera has more open. (There is construction going on behind the villa, but it did not bother us at all.)

I wanted to thank you again for recommending us Wild Orchid. The 8 of us were very happy and spent a lovely time there. As you told me, the house was brand new and everything was just perfect.
Having the Hotel beside the House was fantastic. All the Staff was very helpful and kind. Mario the Cheff incredible, we had dinner twice over there and the food was delicious , Chris, Kira, Horatio all were very nice to us.
The beach was fantastic, the temperature of the water better imposible.
We would love to come back in te near future. Maybe it would be better to arrive in the Governors Harbour airport that is closer to the house, even though the north Eleuthera airport was not that bad.
We liked a lot Eleuthera ,the beach that we had in front of the house with pink sand was as beautiful or maybe nicer as the famous one in Harbour Island.
Just a few things as constructive criticism. The house should have a shower and bath beside the pool, some portable chairs and umbrellas for the beach, the ceiling of the terrace should be improved with a waterproof ceiling, (the rain went through it) some chairs in the bedrooms, some hooks to hung things in the bathrooms and maybe some xtra frying pans as the one we had in the house did not work with that cooktop. Mario lent us one. Some beach towels and all the bathrooms with hair dryers.
In overall everything was just fantastic, and asume very soon more vegetation will be in the surroundings of Wild Orchid. Thank you Very Much. hope to come back soon. I will recommended to friends.
