Queens Highway Governors Harbour, Eleuthera 11111 Bahamas (Geo: 25.229056,-76.275667)
Overview & Photos
Historic Hut Pointe is centrally located only 5 minutes from the main settlement of Governor's Harbour and 8 minutes from the airport, a perfect location for those wanting to explore the entire Island. This family owned, eco-friendly, all suite property is a short walk to one of the islands best snorkeling sites. It is also a 10 minute walk (or 1 minute drive) from a spectacular mile-long pink sand beach (Hut Pointe Beach) and from famous Pascale’s beachfront restaurant and bar. No beach is far away as the island is less than half a mile wide in the central part of the island.
The main building, originally constructed in 1944, is listed on the national register of historic places #107 and is built entirely out of limestone rock. Once used as a hurricane shelter due to its fortress-like construction, the interiors were remodeled in 2010 to include many eco-friendly additions while still maintaining the historical character of the property and guest comfort.
Hut Pointe #5 is a clean and spacious 825 square foot interior unit with 2-bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The entire space is air conditioned with central a/c and features a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, gas stove and oven, pots/pans, dishes, utensils and a coffee maker. The island countertop has two comfortable bar chairs and leads to a dining table with four chairs. The living room is spacious including a pull-out couch, two comfortable sofa chairs and a flat screen T.V. with satellite T.V. and a wifi. The outdoor balcony overlooks the beautiful gardens at Hut Pointe and the ocean beyond.
The primary bedroom has king-size bed, closet with an in-room safe, armoire and a balcony door leading to a small sitting porch. The second bedroom has two twin-size beds and a small closet.
Some of the eco-friendly additions during the renovation included new shower heads and toilets, solar water heating, solar electric with battery backup, rainwater harvesting for all of our water use, low VOC paint, CFL and solar lighting, new energy-saving refrigerators and an organic garden.
Nearby Governors Harbour, a historic settlement including Cupids Cay, has grocery stores, gas station, shops and popular restaurants including Tippy’s on the beach, 1648 at French Leave, Buccaneer Club, Bacchus fine wines and more. Every settlement has its charm and restaurants from the quaint road side conch stand to the sophisticated restaurants like 1648 and The Landing on Harbour Island, another historic property dating back to 1800.
The island of Eleuthera is one of the longest islands in the Bahamas and also one of the narrowest which makes beach and ocean access available up and down the length of the island. Eleuthera means Freedom and from top to bottom exploring the islands many beaches, settlements, coves, caves, blue holes and enjoying the friendly island people is the best part of any Eleuthera experience. A day trip to Harbour Island or Spanish Wells, reading on a deserted beach, visiting the beautiful churches or Fish Fry, there is more than enough to do in a week on the beautiful island of Eleuthera. Fishing, scuba, boat rentals, swimming pigs, snorkeling, bike riding, surfing and exploring the many hidden dirt roads are available throughout the island.
While Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular beaches, the island is also home to only 8000 residents so it is safe, clean and spacious so you can hang out in the friendly settlements and listen to colorful island stories or hide away on one of the many deserted beaches.
